Bastrop Musk Update: April 2026
Snailbrook rising. Starlink shipping. X HQ breaking ground. What's happening this month.
Snailbrook Construction Accelerates
The company town is taking shape. Foundation work for the first residential buildings is underway on the 110-acre site adjacent to the Boring Company R&D facility. Permits filed with Bastrop County show plans for 200+ housing units in Phase 1, plus a community center, gym, and what appears to be a small school.
Local contractors report the project is moving fast. "They're building at Tesla speed," one said. Occupancy is targeted for late 2026.
Starlink Manufacturing at Full Capacity
The 500,000 sq ft Starlink terminal manufacturing facility is now operating at full production capacity. Sources say 3,000+ terminals per day are being produced. The facility employs approximately 800 people, most living in Bastrop County.
X (Twitter) HQ: Site Prep Begins
Grading and site preparation have started on the parcel designated for X's new headquarters campus. The company has not confirmed a timeline, but permit filings suggest a multi-building campus with data center infrastructure. When operational, this could bring another 500-1,000 jobs to the county.
